Abbott Laboratories, a broad based health care company devoted to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical products, including nutritionals, devices and diagnostics, seeks a Legal Assistant to join the Legal Division's Intellectual Property Litigation group. This position reports to the Intellectual Property Litigation Paralegal Supervisor.

Responsibilities include: assist intellectual property litigation paralegals in the discovery process, including data/information collection and tracking, interviews, and legal holds; assist in responding to subpoenas, wage loss verifications and requests for information; assist in handling, preparation and processing of general administrative matters, including bates labeling, copying, redacting and filing; responsible for updating various contact lists and verifying/updating data in various databases; create and provide monthly, periodic and special request reports; familiar with research tools: Lexis and Pacer; flexibility to take on special projects and/or additional responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:
General knowledge of legal terminology desired. Self motivated and detail oriented individual with high work standards. Must be organized, have the ability to prioritize work and meet simultaneous deadlines. Must exercise independent judgment, high level of discretion, maturity and ethical integrity. Candidate must possess strong communication skills, writing skills and analytical skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast paced environment. Contact with outside law firms, clients, employees.

Position requires 1 -3 years of experience within a law firm or corporation, preferably in a litigation setting. Intellectual property experience a plus.
